Prague Assembly election is a close race
Prague, Oct 4 (ČTK) — Czech TOP 09 has the biggest chance to win next week’s local election in Prague with 29.5 percent of the vote, narrowly followed by the ANO movement with 29 percent, according to a Median poll for Czech Television (ČT) released today.
The Social Democrats (CSSD) would come third with 19 percent, according to the election potential of particular parties.
The election potential shows how many percent of votes a party could hypothetically gain if all people who are considering supporting it and at the same time not ruling out participation in the election would cast their vote for the party.
That is why the total of the parties’ election potentials is higher than 100 percent.
The three-party coalition of the Greens, Christian Democrats (KDU-ČSL) and Mayors could get 18.5 percent of the vote and the Civic Democrats (ODS) 17 percent.
The Communists’ (KSČM) potential is 9 percent, the Pirates’ 8 percent and the Free Citizens Party’s 6 percent. The For Prague movement has a 4.5 percent potential and the Dawn of Direct Democracy 3.5 percent, ČT said.
A record 31 groupings will contest seats on the Prague assembly, which is eight more than four year ago. The election will be held on Oct. 10–11.
