Ten Czechs and families require immediate evacuation from Arabian Peninsula
Prague, April 7 (ČTK) — The Czech Republic and other countries have asked India to help evacuate their citizens from Yemen due to fighting, David Frous, from the Czech Foreign Affairs Ministry’s press section, told the Czech News Agency today.
There are about 10 Czech citizens in Yemen now, and if people with relation to the Czech Republic, such as their relatives, are included, up to 20 people are to be evacuated, he added.
Frous confirmed the information from Indian media reporting that more than 20 countries, not only from the European Union, had turned to the Indian government with this request.
The evacuation is to be organized under the aegis of the EU, and the Czech Republic is part of this effort, Frous said.
India is expected to send a ship for the evacuees.
A total of 23 countries have turned to India, according to the list that the Indian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman released on social networks.
Apart from the Czech Republic, they are France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey and the United States, as well as Bangladesh, Cuba, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Indonesia, Philippines, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore and Yemen. Some Indian media also mentioned the Netherlands, Bahrain and Thailand.
