Technical specifications

 

Brief description

  1. There are 11 banner types set for the PraguePost.com Web site.
  2. Ten of them are nested in the Web site project and one is part of the weekly newsletter.
  3. Eight of the Web site project banners can be files in .gif, .jpg or .swf format (file-based banners).
  4. Two of them are based on heading and text structure (Links).
  5. Banners are fully archived.

    
Banner types and dimensions for Web site banners

  1. Body 1 section - 625x80px. The banner is bordered by a 1px solid black line on the output automatically.
  2. Body 2 article - 480x80px. The banner is bordered by a 1px solid black line on the output automatically.
  3. Links 1 - text only.
  4. Links 2 - text only.
  5. Rectangle 1 - 285x200px.
  6. Rectangle 2 - 285x200px.
  7. Rectangle 3 - 285x200px.
  8. Section banner - 285x50px.
  9. Skyscraper - 285x400px.
  10. Top banner - 960x80px. The banner is bordered by a 1px solid black line on the output automatically.

    
Banner type for the weekly newsletter

  1. 380x80px, .jpg or .gif format only.

    
Limitations

  1. File based banners: up to 50kB.
  2. Links: heading - up to 30 chars, text - up to 105 chars (3 rows, 35 chars per a row).

    
File based banners

  1. Each banner is defined by its position on the website, dimensions and part of the websites (section) the banner is assigned to.
  2. There is a maximum of four banners rotating in the same spot on the Web site.
  3. The rotation is at random, runs in four-round sequences and is divided among all banners assigned to the spot.
  4. The banner is displayed due to the display conditions (date, sections, order).
  5. If there are no banners set for a particular banner spot of subsection sites, banners of the section above in the section hierarchy are displayed. If there is no such section, no banner is displayed.

    
Links - link based banners

  1. Links banners consist of two visual parts on the Web site: a heading used as a link to the target Web site and the text.
  2. The text part of the Links banner is optional.
  3. There are two types of Links banners: Links 1 and Links 2. Both of them are displayed based on the same principles.
  4. The order of banner output is random.
  5. The order of banner output is generated during each page reload.
  6. If there are no banners set for a particular Links area (Links 1, Links 2) on the subsection sites, banners of the section above in the section hierarchy are displayed.

    
.swf file

  1. The target link is taken as a parameter given to the animation from outside as clickTAG (case sensitive).
  2. The target site opens in a new browser window.
  3. The exact expression for a part of action script code: getURL (clickTAG, "_top");
