American guitarist Jean-Paul Bourelly is a respected presence in the jazz world, but his very first and most powerful experience hearing the guitar was listening to Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsies at the age of 10. Bourelly's current project, Black Stone Raiders, left, plays more than just Hendrix, but the sound and spirit of the Band of Gypsies is alive in this psychedelic-power-rock trio, which includes drummer Will Calhoun, formerly of Living Colour and Jungle Funk, and Darryl Jones, otherwise known as "The Munch," the touring bassist for The Rolling Stones and one of the last bassists to tour with Miles Davis. Black Stone Raiders are heavyweights of Hendrix-inspired rock. Lucerna Music Bar, Feb. 9 at 9; 330 Kč
