Proposed Czech agriculture minister is a farmer
Prague, Dec 23 (ČTK) — Brief profile of Marian Jurečka, 32, who has been proposed for agriculture minister in the coalition government now formed by Czech Social Democrat leader Bohuslav Sobotka:
Date and place of birth: March 15, 1981 in Přerov, north Moravia
Education: graduated from phytopathology (specialization plant protection) at Mendel University in Brno.
Working career: farmer at family holding in Rokytnice near Přerov, since 2005 also head of distribution center of agrochemistry of Lukrom spol. s.r.o. company.
Political career: joined Christian Democrats (KDU-ČSL) in 1999, elected party deputy chairman for the first time in November 2010, first deputy chairman since December 2011 (defended the post this year); at present deputy chairman of KDU-ČSL branch in Olomouc Region; since October 2012 member of Olomouc Region assembly, elected to the Chamber of Deputies for the first time this October, since this November chairman of KDU-ČSL deputy group.
Family: married, with three children
- In previous years, several times unsuccessfully ran in regional elections (2008) and local elections (2006 and 2010).
- He entered the Chamber of Deputies as party leader in the Olomouc Region, he is deputy chairman of KDU-ČSL deputy group.
