ABOUT THE PLAYS

Mrs. Svobodna and the Baobabs

Script: Nolwenn Treguer, Director: Julek Neumann

On the eve of their 30th wedding anniversary, Mrs Svobodna and her husband arrive at a small hotel to celebrate before continuing on their way to Africa. She dreams of seeing the baobab trees. She travels with many suitcases and a mysterious plant. Her life will change irrevocably after she meets the inquisitive Bellboy, himself planning to leap into marriage the next day.

A dark poetic comedy with a twist at the end.

The Open Tomb

Script: Anthony Wilks, Director: Melanie Rada

Robert, a university lecturer, runs away to London to devote himself to reading, and falls in love with Lucy. He doesn’t want to tell her the truth about his life so he pretends to be someone else. He also hires a private detective to follow her around, to find out what she’s like and to watch her in case she does anything suspicious. But the lies start to multiply as we realize the private detective isn’t who he appears to be.

A play about lies, charming stories and how the truth is not important.

Public Relations

Script: Jeff Kellner, Director: Brian Caspe

Baghdad 1990: Two writers at the Ministry of Information have quite an assignment: Write some catchy ads to attract tourists to Iraq. They are being helped by Nick, a clever American PR consultant. But, when war breaks out, Nick finds himself working on an interesting new project.

A play about language, culture and power.
