Incredible!!!

European countries less bloodthirsty than USA.

Anybody with even a smattering of any sense and knowledge of history is laughing hysterically about this statement by Peter Andrews.

Colonization of the world by the Belgium,Portugal,Holland,Great Britain,Germany,Russia,Spain,France,Italy and 30 Years War(and several others in between) together with Napoleonic wars,WWI,WWII etc, etc,is European contribution to "bloodless" legacy of European countries.

Even USA is result of this legacy(together with Latin America,Mexico and Canada)

Planet Earth is soaked by the blood shed by Europeans so there is certainly no need for "high horse" attitude by some moronic Englisman.

Its worth looking at evidence related to the word 'surge' and its wider implications)-
The 'surge' by troops from Israel into Palistine to root out terrorists caused humanitarian devistation; billions of dollors damage to infrastructure; and no advancement in Deomcracy.
The USA 'surge' into Iraq by the previous administration cost billions; life's of USA servicemen, the Iraq peoples loss of life overall is close to 750,000 lifes lost. As yet, until troop withdrawl is complete, there is no credible evidence of democratic security, or, constant electric supply!.
The recent 'surge' of Pakistan troops into the Swat region has displaced 1.9 million people, many living in unsanitary conditions in sweltering heat.
The European approach of building working relationships within communities and persuading tribal leaders to abandon the Taliban is undermined by 'helicopter gun-ship diplomacy' that leaves a 7 year old boy wondering why all his family are lying infront of him with body parts missing, how do you explain to a tribal leader the merits of 'surge' when 50% of his villages children are dead.
The strategic importance with its weapons capacity falling into 'terrorist hand's' is noted; but this is highly unlikley. The recruitment of child suicide bombers is a certainty; when a child witnesses 'surge reality' ; that child has nothing left except his life; and with the memory of seeing his little sister lying with half her head blown off; the result of his decisin to do what he can with his life is a foregone conclusion. It needs a humanitarian surge and protection of the areas where civic progress has been made. To say that the E.U. needs to contribute more has merit in its area's of strength. What also needs to be said is a recognition that blowing the heads of innocent people and denying involvement contributes more to terrorism than anything else. The evidence is graphic in Palestine, Iraq, and now the Pakistan border area. The new administraion made a start with the closing down of Guantanamo bay, but the human dynamics that underpinned that foriegn policy disaster still 'surge' out and the merits of these 'surges' are an obsticle to Mr Obama's vision of a safer world.

Perhaps the reason why European countries are not interested in killing people in Afghanistan in order to further American interests is because they are less bloodthirsty than the US.

Tens of thousands of innocent civilians have been killed in a war whose main purpose seems to be to protect American corporate interests (the gas pipeline) and to keep the opium fields open for business.
