A very interesting story. One thing, however, struck me in the reading of it: there is no mention that these children were Jewish; I presume they were Jewish. I also presume one is still permitted in today's Europe to use the words "Jew" and "Jewish". Further, these atrocities were perpetrated by the Nazis and not the Germans. Curious.

How special the exhibition must be! My husband and I were participants on the Winton Train, the only ones from Australia. It was an emotional but amazing journey. The items my mother had were her mother's fur muff, her brown leather skates, her mother's watch, an autograph book, and beautiful sepia family photos. Her little sister had her father's prayer shawl and her mother's ring. She still has her little brown case and the tags that were attached to it. I also have a coat-hanger that my mother brought with her. It says simply ski-suit in German. Yes one does treasure those items, that link one to the grandparents one never knew.
