Having seen the film that Mr. Walling panned, I can only say, "hear, hear". It was one of the more boring films of the past several years. It came and went in most theaters in the US (where I had the misfortune to see it) in under a week. Rotten Tomatoes showed that only 10% of 110 reviews were even slightly positive.

On the other hand, having enjoyed many films over the years that the majority of critics have disliked, no one is forcing Mr. Happy to see a film or not, just based on the critics. In these days of the internet, it seems that everyone is a critic. Even Mr. Happy.

To Happy: If my point of view is a bellwether for you when it comes to selecting films to see or avoid, then I'm doing my job. 100% is a pretty consistent average. As for all of this nonsense about attacking popular films or championing "artsy" ones, I'll stand on my record to the contrary. My approach is quite simple: I "rave" about what I like and I "grill" what I don't care for. If you find our predilections divergent, that should be of some use to you when picking out what to see. Thanks for reading.

Just curious...do you guys ever actually go to see these films that you lambast? I have seen several of the films that you have lately grilled only to find that you were 100% wrong...they were great! Apparently you are the type who will give rave reviews to artsty films that no one goes to see because of the absurdity of the film and deem yourself educated and sophisticated by standing apart from the crowd and grilling the films that the masses go to see...In other words if you say it's bad....it is a must see!
