The Stones recorded with this ensemble in 1989 disregard comments in this queue to the contrary and look up the song, you won't regret it.

This ensembles work with the Stones on the 1989 LP Steel Wheels track Continental Drift is also well documented in the The BBC Documentary "The Rolling Stones In Morocco" (1989).

Some other notes:

Thanks for the release date correctiion as noted; Brian Jones recorded the album Pipes of Pan in 1968, produced the album in 1969, but it was not actually released until 1971.

Ornette Coleman's track "Buddah's Blues" performed on the Chinese double reed 'suona' in 1968, predicted directions he would later take with Jajouka.

The photos of the Master Musicians of Jajouka led by Bachir Attar on this page and in the print article/cover story are by Cherie Nutting.

I am manager of Bachir Attar and The Master Musicians of Jajouka.Someone has stated in a comment above that we never performed with The Rolling Stones after The Pipes of Pan was released. Along with the Rolling Stones we re released the record in 1994.

We performed in the BBC film 1989 "The Rolling Stones in Morocco" when Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and Ron Wood came to Tangier to record Bachir Attar and The Master Musicians of Jajouka
for their song on the STEEL WHEELS recording entitled "Continental Drift". Someone above has commentd that we did not work again with The Rolling Stones. This is untrue. Please submit as this is my second comment which has not been added. See utube "The Roliing Stones in Morocco"BBC 1989 Nigil Finch director. Thank you. Cherie Nutting manager

Actually, the Master Musicians of Jajouka led by Bachir Attar did record the song "Continental Drift" with the Rolling Stones, in 1989, for the Steel Wheels album.

They didn't perform with The Rolling Stones. But they were recorded by Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones... a field recording. And it wasn't released until after he was dead. The entire story is pivotal in the legend of the band. The music is absolutely amazing... a link to pre-Islamic and pre-Christian traditions of human civilization.

The album was recorded in 1968 but released in 1971.
