Paroubek is looking only for power. It is a shame that he has a such influence in the political life of your country. He could not wait until the Czech Republic will finish the EU presidency.
What is 30 K for a visit to the doctor. Cut on your smoking and drinking.
The Czech Repiblic will loose respect around the world with politician as Paroubek. Look at his face and you would not pay a haler for him.

Ian, no I don't. Back to the point... Every government is imperfect. It's one thing to push an agenda and another to seek power for power's sake. Read Czech newspapers (if you can) and you'll see concensus if this opinion is high. Paroubek has no plan except to keep this country's political system paralyzed.

Its time that the Czech population got out of the communist way of thinking. They are like sheep. I am from Africa and the politicians and politics in Czech Republic verge on African standards. Politicians here are only interested in their personal groweth and financial gain. Power is their main goal and their immunity from prosecution allows them to play games with the Czech citizens future while they fight for power. When are we going to get a leader and political party that is interested in the wellfare of the Czech population? And as for the Czechs...well when I call them sheep its because they fall for the same lies and policies of all these bandits in government and vote for them over and over again. These politicians are public servants i.e. they work for YOU!! You pay their salaries so why not ask why are they not doing what you expect instead of getting rich on your backs? And as for Paroubek...how does a socialist get to be so big and fat like a capitalist when he is supposed to be looking after the peoples interests? All the money that is supposed to be comming from the EU for infrastructure in CZ...take a good look at our roads...I have seen better in Africa and thats saying a lot. And finally, How many Czechs smoke and drink beer and alcohol? All these cost money and are bad for your health but I don't hear you yelling "Why should we pay for our bad health?" but when you have to pay 30 Kc for attending a doctor, which is good for your health all you do is complain...why don't you complain about important things such as the right to choose if you want the radar station in your country or the right to choose if you want CZ to ratify the Lisbon Treaty? Come on all you sheep...start to think a bit bigger than a pea.

A nakonec, kolik Čechů kouře a pití piva a alkoholu?

"This was supposed to be an opinion article?"
---it doesn't know whether it is a straight news story or an opinion piece. Diabolical journalism. And what is a bylined newsreporter doing writing such a piece anyway?

Whilst comment may or may not hold validity; I wonder do those who state 'Czech this' Czechs that' with poor use of barbed language; ever look in the mirror and ponder thier own imperfections, bad performance, and human falibility?

Why?He is a politician and as such it is a legitimate concern to him to advance his politics.I do not like myself his politics and philosophy, but I believe it is his right to promote them.In his case he never pretended otherwise.

On the other hand,it is a politician such like Mr.Rath and Mr.Tlusty(etc.) who I despise. For a personal, egoistic reasons they will betray their party and their professed beliefs to advance their individual wants.
People need to be aware of these individuals at all times.

I despise Jiři Paroubek. I know Czech politics are a joke and a necessary evil, but I can't believe he went to such reaches to destroy a functioning government, the reputation of the Czech Republic and public confidence in their own government all for the sake of power itself. People like this are dangerous. Their actons are comparable to leaders of totalitarian states. Both he and Vaclav Klaus are both egocentric megalomaniacs. Klaus' attitude to the EU and to the environment is irresponsible to the say the least. I'm sure he wishes he could walk around with a crown and mace if he could get away with it. This is bad for this country. I feel sorry for Czechs. You know the guys at the European Parliament are saying, "Mate, screw these small ex-commy states." On the bright side, you people who voted for CSSD will be able to save a whole 30 Kc for your yearly doctor's visit! And those who make more than 50,000 Kc a month will be able to once again make use of their tax evasion skills.

The vigorous internal political debate and democractic struggles taking place inside the Czech Republic should not detract from it's presidency of the E.U. There are many countries in this world who would welcome the chance to have democratic bebate.
