The realities of 'ideological training' of very young impressionable minds to have a 'spiritual duty' to kill 'infidels' is very real. Intelligence and witness testament prove this planning takes place. Any European capital or large city is 'valid' criteria for the ideals of these 'extreme' motivated groupings. I just hope it does not take another Madrid; or London; for the E.U. to realise that this has to be opposed. To take out all support and leave the 'education' of the young in the hands of 'extreme' jihadists is a worrying prospect. Of course; the democratic debate internally is the way to evaluate individual country contribution. The request for two medical units seems reasonable; but as the article points out; domestic politics will determine that decision. At least the democratic basis for having this debate exists; which is not the case in a country where 'war lords' behead people on a 'complaint' by another with no legal redress. The situation in Afghanistan spilling into Pakistan is worrying for many; the answers for long term stability seem overwhelming and presenting this regional NATO problem in Europe is a very tall order ideeed.

"If you look on the map you will notice that the troops are there to protect the gas pipeline and ensure supplies of opium to the war lords. They are not there to stop "insurgency"."

That is an interpretation used by loony left conspiracy freaks.I guess that you are one of them.So sorry for you!!!

"They regularly and consistently refuse to send their troops in Afghanistan from relatively safe areas of the country to the provinces that are at the forefront of insurgency."

Mr.Rassmussen would be better off to "sound" against the French and German contingencies in Afghanistan. They regularly and consistently refuse to send their troops in Afghanistan from relatively safe areas of the country to the provinces that are at the forefront of insurgency.

Perhaps he could not do so as he is not really in charge.

"Alexia is "waxing" inane sophistry again."

This is your country which is sending people to die and kill in a pointless war the other side of the world. Do you *seriously* have nothing intelligent to say?

"How on Earth could sending Czech troops to kill innocent civilians in Afghanistan be helping national security? Tom Clifford must have a limited knowledge of geography."
