I find this very sad, I was fortunate enough to visit your beautiful country a couple years ago and hope to be able to return someday, but as a tourist I think it is scary that the government either can't or won't enforce it's laws. Is Paruge any safer for a tourist that IraQ? I would think that the police would take away the thiefs licence, and then if they find them in operation tow away the taxi! If the police do not have the authority to do this task, how do I know that I will be safe if I visit?
every travel book that I read before my trip warned of taxi's ,and when we arrived, waiting at the train station was plenty of over charged taxi's, we were fortunate enough to find a private individual to give us a ride at a fair rate. We were so greatful for his honesty that we tipped him what we would have been charged buy the others!

It's amazing the city still allows scum-bag taxi drivers to operate and rip-off tourists. The city fathers still have not learned their lesson--very sad!

It is simply outrageous that a new company is trying to mislead the public by using the identical AAA name -- with tiny modification. Most of the taxi companies in Praha over charge, except the original AAA radio. I am more outraged that the Czech courts do not aggressively move against this new company. Tourism is hurting in Praha, and the Czech do not need one more reason for tourists like myself to visit Praha. I visit Praha every year for 3 weeks.

Don't feel alone. It's the same here in Mexico.

Wait a minute.....did I just read that AAA Taxi owes city hall 140 million Kc in fines? When is enough, enough? Are you telling me that you can not revoke his taxi license to operate in Prague until he pays the 140 million Kc. If you can't revoke his license to operate then you need to assign cops to every one of his cabs writing tickets for his daily violations. Keeping him parked on the side of the street everyday getting tickets should put a hurtin' on his business real quick. This is unbelievable, he owes Prague 140 million and he still is operating his business. He should be in jail for non-payment of funds. Does this mean if I run a red light in Prague I don't have to pay it? I like that system. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

This article fits accuratley as a macro-example of national trends in almost every area. The scope for junior ministers to realise the work and sacrifice of the early civic forums; those who went to jail to ensure todays freedoms; is now slipping away.
I mention junior ministers as some of you will have to 'stand up to the plate' in the same way as Havel did and begin the 'The Flower justice reveloution'. The debating chamber as opposed to archaic rubber stamping at snails pace; I hope; is where young Czech polititions who realise that 'Yes we can' is an option and opportunity to change comfortable stagnation that is acting as a cancer to the aspirations of the current new generation. The gathering of the concerned to produce independant but cross-party legislative draughts to remove the malignancy that exsists is knocking at the door of conscience.

This shows what a joke the Czech Republic is. AAA Taxi is destroying the reputation of the best company firm in Prague, enfringing their trade-mark, breaking the law and stealing money from customers. And the Czech courts can do nothing.

At this rate it will take decades before this country has reached the level of Western Europe.

What a sick country (Czech Rep.) we live in! How is it possible to blatantly steal a competitor's brand name, actually admit to it "on the record", admit to overcharging clients by 300%, accrue 140 million Kc in fines to city hall and still remain in business? Well, this case is a typical example of how things are done in the Czech Republic. Don't expect the politicians to do anything about it. What the taxis are getting away with is peanuts compared to what the politicians are up to.
