if unlabled living and non-living gmos are in your diet, and you have an allergic reaction to them, no one will no why because they are not labeled

In reply to Drew Power,
First of all "The diversity of seeds and years--often millennia--of effort and cultivation that has went into current agricultural practices are all jeopardized by the impending contamination from GMOs" does not suggest that time alone makes a practice superior. As an Anthropologist, I was summarizing complex interactions and cultivation advances that have been part of human and agricultural evolution. For example, over 10,000 varieties of corn exist in Mexico today when it has been thought to have first been planted about 9,000 years ago. Peruvians have figured out how to grow certain potato species in high altitudes by adapting to their environment. Now, Mexican corn has already started to be contaminated by GMOs (http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_17843.cfm, http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Outlawed+GMO+corn+shows+up+in+Mexico.+(Environmental+Intelligence)-a082014411). And more is likely to come (http://in.reuters.com/article/governmentFilingsNews/idINN0424072320090604).
As far as your wanting for facts, facts abound. There would be even more direct research has not GMO research been restricted. Check out this article on wellnessuncovered.com for a sampling: http://tinyurl.com/l3ogk6. Then read more on the GMO Truth Alliance Page (http://facebook.dj/gmotruthalliance/) or Institute for Responsible Technology's website (http://www.responsibletechnology.org). Your claims seem to be based on ignorance.

The two comments above are typical of anti-GMO rhetoric. A combination of:
1 False connection between perceived 'ill health effects' of GMO foods.
2 Straw man (no pun intended) arguments
3 Attacks on corporate agriculture based on suspicion
4 No attributed 'facts' made
5 Notion that developing countries are the worse for producing more food for themselves using GMO
6 A general tone of hysteria
and a new one
7 Call to 'ancient wisdom', via this comment:
"The diversity of seeds and years--often millennia--of effort and cultivation that has went into current agricultural practices are all jeopardized by the impending contamination from GMOs".
This suggests that our previous science genetically modifying crops is superior to current science - because it took longer to do!
Really, if GMO is to be treated objectively - and from objective treatment, be used to best effect worldwide - it's better served by a scientific, rather than socio-political, approach.
The Prague Post article is explicit in its scientific basis, and should be commended as a fair article on the topic.

Given the simple fact that genetically modified (GM) crops spread their DNA at a rate upwards of 14 miles (22.5 km) in every direction per month should be reason enough for a country to refuse any GMO crops. The diversity of seeds and years--often millennia--of effort and cultivation that has went into current agricultural practices are all jeopardized by the impending contamination from GMOs.
There is an increasing body of evidence of ill effects from GMOs. It is beyond me how any scientist can deem them safe. When so much is at risk, it is very wise to err on the side of caution!
I also stress the last line of this article: "In a country with the highest tolerance of GM products within the EU, the White Book's authors feel that consumers will play an important role in the shaping of future policies concerning GMOs." How many consumers knowingly choose to eat GM food? Take away any financial advantages (including subsidiaries), add full disclosure and who would desire this food? In the United States, GM food is not even labeled and the majority of its citizens remain unaware that this is even happening to their food supply. To get back to the importance of this line, we as educated--and I stress educated-- consumers hold a lot of power.
There has been much manipulation by these biotechnology companies on the world's agriculture --and I must add many governments have not been so innocent either. The US has threatened to stop all food aide to Africa if African countries decide to test the food for GMOs. Many farmers have been made dependent on seeds, herbicides and pesticides from these bio tech conglomerates. Look for the company names in the headlines.
Much power has been taken away from consumers --included in that are regular citizens and also the farmers-- by withholding knowledge and information and by not labeling GM foods.
Each person must educate him/herself on this very important issue. It is our health and future sustenance at stake.

There is a growing concern in the US that GMO foods maybe causing un-explained allergic reactions such as Lyme or Morgellons. Gmo foods are not labeled in the US, so doctors do not have the ability to make a gmo-alergy determination.
Germany, France, Austria, Greece, Hungary and Luxembourg have recently banned GMO maize farming, despite EU safety approval underwrited by large US seed corporations that want to dominate the worlds seed market.
If GMOs are forced on your country, demand they be labeled!
