As one reporter commented this week, you may want to count your crowns. So, Palac Akropolis restaurant with a friend for the 'Vegetarian mish-mash' which is a dependable mystery that has basic life support food in it. There should be ample change out of a kc1000 note to spend in Zizkov, just be carful of the ghosts on Kubelikova, and enjoy your x-mass and New Year.

Yawn.

Rewind 15 years and the post will still have the same bland choices. Thought this was a newspaper, not a freebie what's on guide.

In a world where reputations have little credit, its reassuring that some retain that crucial AAA status regardless of what putrid challenges life throws up.

I remember visiting CzecHouse soon after I arrived in the Czech Republic and recall I throughly enjoyed my meal. Looking again at their menu, I'm now a little shocked to see what they're charging for drinks. Taking a simple Coca-Cola as an example, they are charging a staggering 115Kc for a .20 cl glass. Of course hotel restaurants have their overheads, but who are they kidding with these kinds of prices. As a comparison, the same sized Coke is 75kc at La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise. Still expensive, but some distance from the rip-off prices at the Hilton.
