Movers & Shakers: Kačena named at Areva

Michal Kačena is the new business development director in Prague for Areva. In his new role, he will be responsible for leveraging Areva's industry experience in order to cooperate with Czech industry, academia and research and development centers.

Kačena began his career at the Nuclear Information Institute and worked in managerial roles at companies including Philip Morris, SAB Miller and ČEZ. Before joining Areva, he was a private consultant, interim manager and lecturer in the fields of corporate affairs and marketing.

He holds a degree in nuclear engineering, a diploma of journalism and an MBA from Sheffield Hallam University.

MasterCard Europe has added Eva Kárníková to its Prague office. In her new role, she will be responsible for managing and developing relationships with trading partners in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Slovenia and Croatia. Kárniková worked as managing director for 10 years at Diners Club United.

Jiří Nekovář was elected vice president of the Confédération Fiscale Européenne (CFE) and a member of the executive committee during the CFE annual general assembly. Nekovář was appointed earlier this year as a member of the Committee for the Coordination and Cooperation in the Field of Auditing of the Czech Council for Public Audit Oversight. Nekovář is majority owner and chief executive of Euro-Trend and vice chairman of the board of directors of Euro-Trend Audit a.s. He is a graduate of the University of Economics in Prague with a degree in economics and industry management.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) expects a 50 percent increase in revenues within five years due to demand. As a result, PwC has promoted 10 current senior managers to directors in departments that reflect areas PwC will focus on in the next several years.

Half of the newly appointed directors come from the tax department, including Martin Diviš, Jan Fischer, Natalia Pryhoda, Harmen Rosing and Tomáš Urbášek.
