The famous, or infamous, expat institution the Blind Eye is re-opening, sort of, for a limited time.

Starting October 1st through the 31st, the bar, which is named after a one-eyed Hussite warrior, will be open Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and Halloween Sunday from 9 p.m. to close.
The bar, located on Vlkova street in Žižkov, closed this summer after being open since 2002, but has made random comebacks now and again that hearken back to its original status as a speak-easy where to get in customers had to ring a buzzer. This October stint was advertised on their Facebook page as follows – “Please ignore the “UZAVRENA SPOLECNOST” (sic) sign on the front door, if you’ve received this message it doesn’t apply to you.” Uzavřená společnost means private party, by the way.
The Blind Eye is not for everyone – it’s a bar that embraces its grittiness and it on their website, pretty much states their mission as letting people party as wild
ly as they want to as long as they don’t do anything too illegal or hurt anyone. That being said, it seems to have picked up something of a cult following among expats, and has even been featured in The New York Times travel section.
