If you you’re a fan of jazz but have never heard any jazz from Slovakia, you might be interested in checking a take on the genre from one of the country’s top jazz musicians.

Petr Lipa (above left) will be performing with his longtime friend, actor and songwriter Milan Lasíca, whose poems Lipa set to music and released five years ago in Lipa sings Lasica.

Ranked one of Europe’s top jazz singers by the International Jazz Federation’s Jazz Forum magazine on a number of occasions, Lipa’s music spans the breadth of the jazz landscape with everything from standards to Dixieland to French jazz and funk jazz.

He has played thousands of gigs both on the Slovak scene and abroad over the years, and is today also a promoter of the Bratislava Jazz Days festival.
