Such was the quality at last night’s Crown Comedy Club triple-header, one could have imagined they’d stumbled upon a worm hole and ended up in an established London joint. Yes, the middle act was something of a weak link, but as any regular stand-up spectator will know, two out of three ain’t bad.

Review: Crown Comedy Club

The pomp and circumstance of Anděl’s Phenomenon club doesn’t exactly lend itself to the gritty profession that is stand-up comedy. Once you’ve weaved through the bouncers, mirror balls and dry ice, sucked your teeth at the audacious price of a Staropramen (40Kč for a small-un, even though the brewery is two doors down) and marveled at the fruit salad of a urinal (brimming with freshly-sliced citrus fruit) you’ve got to wonder if you’ve come to the right place.
