A second annual festival of dance films leaps into action this Thursday Sept. 8, until Sept. 11 at kinos Světozor and Aero.
The program of international movies will offer lovers of dance and film to revel in some of the latest offerings from the world of choreography.
Expected to be the festival’s biggest pull is the premiere of Wim Wenders’ new 3-D film Pina.The project began as a documentary on German choreographer Pina Bausch, and when she died during preparation for the film, transformed into a tribute to her work.
Other films due to be screened are Passion: Last Stop Kinshasa – the story of a Belgian troupe’s radical reworking of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, and what happened when they took it to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Sasha Waltz’s Dido and Aeneas has dancers interpret Purcell’s famous piece of music, whilst underwater.
