As The Prague Post reported Feb. 23, a transnational project entitled “Letters to Milosz” is underway throughout Europe under the auspices of HALMA, the European Association of Writing Centers. But just what is Milosz’s legacy, and is the Nobel Prize winning Polish poet, who died in 2004, still relevant today?

The Prague Post discussion “Are Books Dead?” took place Nov. 17 before a crowd of nearly 100 people at the National Gallery. The event stretched into the night, with plenty of questions from the audience and animated debate taking place after the panel discussion had concluded.

If you have read any contemporary Czech novels in English, you have probably read the words of American translator Alex Zucker. Zucker has translated more than a dozen works of contemporary Czech literature, most recently Case Closed by Patrik Ouředník. Zucker sat down with The Prague Post recently on his first return to Prague in several years.
