Official details researchers' arrest in India (News, 17 Sep, 2008)
TO: EMBASSY OF INDIA, Prague

His Excellency the Ambassador

Your Excellency,

I have been totally surprised at the critisicim and hatred directed against India, by the Czech Ambassador to India, Mr.

Hynek Kmoníček. Is this really the Ambassadors role, to taint the good image of India, its people and its judicial system. Is Mr. Kmonicek a lawyer, or an expert of law? Or just an ameteur who likes to think he understands the law of another country. It seems to me that he wants to infer in Indians domestic politics.

From my understanding from information on the Czech Embassy website, Mr. Kmonicek is a former Music teacher and concert player (lute, classical guitar) 1986 - 1991, and not a trained lawyer, or an expert on judisprudence.

His comments are a direct insult to the great Indian people and to India. Painting the Indian people and India as a backward nation and people where the rule of law does not exist, where chaos rules, and questions Indian logic and the thinking of its people.

The matter is that it seems apparent that these Czechs entered India with criminal intent of breaking the law of India. What has their age and scientific status, got to do with justice as stated by Mr. Hynek Kmonicek.

As scientists, they must have been aware of the international guidelines and rules protecting wildlife and insects. Most countries have laws, and this is a poor excuse in stating that they did not know the law, so they must not be punished. I am sure that the Czech Republic does not allow the importation of endangered animals, however, as I do not know which animals are not permitted into the Czech Republic, and decide to bring an endangered animal into the country, can I plea, that I did not know the laws of the Czech Republic, in my defence. This is stupity and arrogrance of two Czech citizens (and a Czech Ambassador), which if they indeed had any status in the internationally scientific community, would have become familiar with the laws of the country they decided to enter to do there research, and laws they decided to break.

Maybe, Mr. Kmonicek places no value on the life of a protected insect, or perhaps an endangered or threatened animal. I realise Mr. Kmonicek likes a good steak and has no problems in killing a cow, and could question that killing cows is illogic to him.

However, as a jew I do not eat Pork, and am sure that Mr. Kmonicek understands this, but then he could question the logic of my people.

With kind regards,

Libor Peck

Online radio targets expats (News, 17 Sep, 2008)
I agree, that site stinks and is for the truly ill-informed. Mr. CEO needs to think before he speaks...its a last resort site for pro's. Advertising there is a death wish, unless you hope to entice kids with no budget. The mistakes it has made alone speaks numerous volumes about his education...radio, it is not. The 'other site' is correct, video is where it is at, and expats.cz is for the foolish.

It is not only the hotels. The streets have become dirtier, the pubs are full of drunk British, the restuarants are not passionate about serving creative foods. When all this is added to the "so-so" hotels, why would anyone enjoy Prague?

Brian Murphy of Prague might find it interesting that 80% of all worldwide currency exchange involves US Dollars. This is much of the reason why the USD dominates the media accounts when values are made - and not as he suggested that the Prague Post is pandering to American readers. I assure you as an American, that I couldn't care less if the USD was mentioned or not in any article.

Low HIV stats may be deceptive (News, 7 Dec, 2005)
Advanced Alternative HIV Treatment Bio-Tech

Planet earth is technologically advanced and developed more than ever before. Electricity, Nuclear, DNA, Electromagnetic Radiation, Oxygen is all being used to treat and cure several viral infections in hospitals and clinics but unfortunately none of such technologies have ever been widely used on HIV.

Some say, the above technologies are too expensive to be adopted in Africa, some say they don't know if the technology would work on HIV.

Here at Savec Health Systems in Belfast UK headed by a HIV orphan medical engineer, we researched and developed alternative medicines commonly used for treatment of viral infections. One of our products is omnivir, a medical device that generates antiviral active oxygen, also known as medical ozone.

HIV, just like any other retro-virus has a lipid protective skin which is vulnerable to active antiviral oxygen / medical ozone . Once the HIV protective skin is damaged, the virus will be inhibited and rendered unproductive thus it cant make more copies or replicate itself and it eventually dies.

Active oxygen deactivates and eventually kills the HIV by destroying its protective skin. Using omnivir medicine properly will help to reduce the HIV viral load in the body, enabling the body to fight opportunistic infections on its own. Omnivir gas is quickly absorbed into the whole body and lymph, even into the bone marrow where it acts against the viruses. The active oxygen's destructiveness nature on HIV, virus and bacteria is partly attributed to the oxidation (burning of viruses) of unsaturated bonds in the phospholipids and lipoprotein architecture of the bacteria, viruses. All viruses cant live in oxygen , (they breathe nitrogen) , thus surrounding them with highly active form of oxygen / medical ozone will quickly inactivate and kill them.
Because omnivir gas can oxidise a wide spectrum of ailment causing organisms (pathogens), it is therefore very helpful for recovery from AIDS and Opportunistic Infections. When a patient is diagnosed with AIDS, literally she will be suffering from several conditions, from karposi skin cancer to diarrhoea (see HIV symptoms). Omnivir gas technology has been successfully used to treat majority of those AIDS conditions, some therapist across the world reporting 99.99% remission success rate, see www.savechealthsystems.com/omnivir.html for more information.

Omnivir treatment gas does not only kill HIV or opportunistic infections, but also helps to boost the immune systems by raising the CD4 count. The immune system contains different types of cells that help protect the body from infection. One of these types of specialized cells are called the CD4 or T-cells. HIV attacks these types of cells and uses them to make more copies / multiply. And in doing so, HIV weakens the immune system, making it unable to protect the body from illness and infection. The less the CD4 cell count the more you are susceptible to AIDS causing infections. Using omnivir will help you stay health and live a normal long life by killing the HIV and aiding reproduction of the CD4 T Cell.

Saints and sinners (Opinion, 28 May, 2008)
Past, certainly is very important as our teacher for our behavior in the future.
Present should reflect what we learned from the past.
Sofar, as Czechs and Europeans, we learned that stealing and looting pays, that totalitarian looter can keep his loot and the victim can be rejected and silenced.
Not only did the Czech Republic accept this immoral stand but even the EU did so.
In the Treaty Establishing the European Community the EU inserted Article 295, which states:
This treaty shall in no way prejudice the rules in Memeber States governing the system of property ownership.
They put the same article into the Lisbon Treaty under No 345.
The European Union, the new guardian of peace and justice, the new arbiter of fairness will not care about stealing and anything which goes
with it: despair, extortion and corruption, forced evacuation ? Not in the past, not in the present, not in the future?

Do not give me such a justice in Europe! Do not make me part of it! Or, otherwise, do not feel for the looter. Take the loot away from him.
Comfort the victim! Return his possessions, especially his family home to him.
By refusing to repair these wounds you only are preparing us all for future miseries!

Like the podcast, this too will fail. It is not cutting edge, nor even radio, and to date, that site has been for the poor backpackers and full of bad information. With so many English options on line for native speakers, expats.cz is the last resort, and only for those that can't get down the street without help. No professional uses that site and the idea that running a free bulletin board is a career is laughable.
The site made far too many mistakes and created far too many enemies to every be anything more than a place to sell your used junk... kiddie land.

I have visited Prague 3 times in the last 5 years. Only once was I happy with my accomodations. And the last time I was there the city looked very dingy and dirty. If the hotels want people to come back and pay the prices, they need to clean up and start giving good old customer service to the tourists. It is what we pay for!

What once was old is new again (Opinion, 17 Sep, 2008)
I agree with this article, first the age of the bicycle, but soon the stone age.

According to most independent scientific studies, global oil production will now decline from 74 million barrels per day to 60 million barrels per day by 2015. During the same time demand will increase 14%.

This is equivalent to a 33% drop in 7 years. No one can reverse this trend, nor can we conserve our way out of this catastrophe. Because the demand for oil is so high, it will always exceed production levels; thus oil depletion will continue steadily until all recoverable oil is extracted.

Alternatives will not even begin to fill the gap. And most alternatives yield electric power, but we need liquid fuels for tractors/combines, 18 wheel trucks, trains, ships, and mining equipment.

Surviving Peak Oil: We are facing the collapse of the highways that depend on diesel trucks for maintenance of bridges, cleaning culverts to avoid road washouts, snow plowing, roadbed and surface repair. When the highways fail, so will the power grid, as highways carry the parts, transformers, steel for pylons, and high tension cables, all from far away. With the highways out, there will be no food coming in from "outside," and without the power grid virtually nothing works, including home heating, pumping of gasoline and diesel, airports, communications, and automated systems.

This is documented in a free 48 page report that can be downloaded, website posted, distributed, and emailed: http://www.peakoilassociates.com/POAnalysis.html

I agree that the idea of a radio station for expats is really good, but the content has to be something people want to to listen to. I liked the first few shows, but want to hear more info variety for all expats, not only the music & gigging oriented ones :)

Good luck guys.

Quoting figures in USD is standard practice in journalism and is in no way 'pandering' to US readers. Whereas a Canadian, Australian or other English speaker may not be familiar with the value of 1 EUR, they certainly are able to understand an amount stated with a USD equivalence.

Letters the Editor (Opinion, 10 Sep, 2008)
I had the pleasure of visiting your beautiful city this month. But the extent and amount of times I was ripped off is appalling. I am a seasoned traveller having visited over 20 countries in my life. Never have I got ripped off as many times as in your city. These rip-offs are blatant and inexcusable. The small monetary gains made by these scum hardly are worth the effort and bad publicity your city gets from this negative press. You all suffer in the long run. Prague is getting the reputation of a third rate destination. See the sights and get out. I was ripped off no less than four times, a record for me in my travels. To the exchange office near the Powder tower. I did not ask for that map,if you give me something I did not ask for than where I come from it is assumed free. I should have thrown it back at you. To the owner of the Prague Inn where you overcharged me for tasteless pretzels and a cover just to sit at your restaurant, and then arent around to hear my complaints, I actually felt sorry for your poor employees who had to hear the brunt of complaints, I hope you lose your business. To others that overcharged but I did not notice, you are effectively are no better than a common thief, and should be prosecuted as such. Unfortunately I leave with a opinion of your city as a beautiful place but with the opinion of a small portion of the population that has a third world mentality. Shame on you Prague and shame on your public officials for allowing this to be the norm in your city.
