(Updated August 28, 2008) Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek is planning to address the possibility that Canada will re-instate a visa requirement if Czech citizens continue to ask for asylum, Mladá fronta Dnes wrote on Thursday.
Topolánek has asked Interior Minister Ivan Langer and Human Rights Minister Džamila Stehlíková to start discussing the issue with Canadian authorities. If there is a possibility of reinstating visas, Topolánek will order Langer to work out a plan to address the situation.
Topolánek said that the bulk of the Czechs are asking for asylum in Canada for economic and not for human rights reasons.
