STANLEY The world’s foremost hockey trophy, the Stanley Cup, toured the Moravian towns of Olomouc, Prostějov and Vsetín in early August as both Czech players on the Detroit Red Wings,  forward Jiří Hudler and goalie Dominik Hašek, exercised their right to bring the cup home in celebration of Detroit’s victory this past season.

CAPTAIN Two Czech defensemen playing with the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs — Pavel Kubina and Tomáš Kaberle — could take over captain positions. DEPARTED Young soccer goalkeeper Radek Petr, who backed the Czech junior team en route to silver medals at the World Under-20 Championship in Canada in spring 2007, was put on loan by Italy’s top league side AC Parma to third division’s Pro Patria. Petr has not been given a chance to play in the Italian Serie A so far.
