Czechs love their coffee

Average person drinks 380 cups per year

(Updated June 25, 2008) The number of Czech coffee lovers is on the rise, Právo wrote on Wednesday.

Last year, coffee consumption was around 379 cups per person per year, which is a 2.4 percent increase over 2006, according to the Czech Statistical Office.

Demand for high-quality coffee and instant coffee is also on the rise, with the average Czech buying 2.3 kilos of coffee beans per year as well. 

In addition, the number of cafés across the country doubled in the past 10 years to 2,560, Právo reported.
