Police form tourist team for busy Prague routes

Officers to offer water, maps, at mobile stations

May 21st, 2008 issue

(Updated May 29, 2008) Prague police officers are forming a “royal route” tourist team for the summer season, Aktualne.cz reported on Thursday.

At least seven officers will be dedicated to the busiest tourist routes in Prague during the summer looking for pickpockets. They’ll also try to ferret out money changers who give tourists Bulgarian currency instead of Czech crowns.

Patrols will operate between 10 a.m. and midnight. Mobile stations will be set up at key spots on the route where officers will answer questions and offer maps and water.

University students will be on hand to help with foreign languages.
