Scania appoints CEO

Peter Hornig has been appointed CEO of the truck manufacturer Scania’s operations in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. He succeeds Bengt Thorsson, who led the Swedish company’s Central European division since 2004 and has now been promoted.Hornig, 54, started his professional career in 1981 at Mercedes-Benz, working in sales. He moved up through the ranks at the automaker, holding various positions until 1995. He then joined Scania Deutschland, where he first held the position of sales director and later was appointed sales director of cargo vehicles for Germany and Austria. Hornig studied economics at the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences in Germany.Thorsson will serve as the executive director of Scania for Northern Europe, which includes Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Baltic states, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.The logistics company ProLogis has appointed Edita Šimková to the position of leasing coordinator for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Šimková joins ProLogis from the EU funds sector, where she gained experience in the field of research and EU programs. Prior to this, she held the position of office manager at Unisphere Trading, setting up and managing the company’s Prague office. She has also worked in the tax department of Arthur Andersen, a consulting firm.Šimková graduated from the University of Economics in Prague with degrees in marketing and accounting. She is fluent in English and has conversational knowledge of Russian. The window manufacturer AQ Okna has appointed Olivier Fritsch its director of production.Before joining AQ Okna, Fritsch, 34, was a project manager for the renewable energy company Green Bear Poland, where he was in charge of wind farm development. Prior to that, he worked for Groupe Paprec, a leading French recycler, where he was responsible for the management of recycling industrial waste, software development and technical analysis. He also served as a director of several Paprec subsidiaries, notably in Senegal. Fritsch holds a mechanical and production engineering degree from the University of Metz (France), a degree in accounting and a master’s in technical purchasing. Rostya Gordon Smith has been named the director of Ingersoll Rand’s corporate university in Prague. Smith has 20 years of experience in HR management, which she gained in Hong Kong, Japan, Brazil, Canada, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Russia and elsewhere.
