Vodafone promotes Anton

Vodafone Czech Republic has named Muriel Anton its new CEO, effective June 1. Anton, who currently serves as Vodafone’s vice president for finance, will succeed the current CEO, Grahame Maher, who will head the founding of a Vodafone branch in Qatar.

Anton joined Vodafone (then Oskar) as vice president for finance in 2000. Prior to joining Vodafone, Anton held various directorial positions in financial planning and analysis at a leading Canadian telecom company, the Telus Corporation.
Maher became Vodafone CZ’s CEO in February 2006. He will continue as chairman at Vodafone CZ until the year’s end. In Qatar, Maher will lead the Vodafone Group’s first greenfield start up in several years. He has previously served as Vodafone’s CEO in Sweden, Australia and New Zealand.
Anton’s current position as chief finance officer will be filled on an interim basis by Patricia Haws, the company’s finance director.
The investment bank and brokerage Wood & Company has named Jaroslav Krabec as its chief investment officer and portfolio manager. Above all, Krabec, 49, will be responsible for managing Wood’s hedge fund, the Wood & Co. Central & Eastern European Fund.
Krabec
Krabec has extensive experience managing investment funds. Before joining Wood, he worked for ING Investment Management between 2001 and 2007, where he managed ING’s Czech equity fund, Český akciový fond. Under Krabec’s watch, the fund was rated best in the Czech Republic in the Zlatá koruna competition for four consecutive years. Prior to ING, Krabec worked as a portfolio manager and analyst for Komerční banka from 1994 to 2001.
He graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University and is a member of the CFA Institute.
Slavomíra Týmová has been named the marketing manager of the law firm Havel & Holásek. Týmová, 31, will be responsible for the marketing and PR affairs of the firm, with her principal goal being the further promotion of the firm on the Czech and Slovak markets.
Týmová
Týmová previously worked at the law firms Allen & Overy and KŠD Šťovíček. Before joining Havel & Holásek, Týmová served as the office manager at KŠD Šťovíček.
Týmová graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University and completed a scholarship at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität in Munich. She is fluent in English and German.
