April 30th, 2008 issue

(Updated May 7, 2008) Homeless people dressed in orange vests are cleaning up downtown streets as part of a new work project, Právo reported on Wednesday.

The first group got brooms and shovels to clean Na Florenci street as part of a pilot done by Naděje non-profit group and city officials. The project has two months worth of funding.

" We think it will be useful and that we can continue it," said Pavel Šerák, a city official involved in the project.

Groups of five homeless people at a time will do two hours of work each morning and two each afternoon.
