Worthy cause Sir Nicholas Winton is worthy of every tribute (“Winton humbled by children’s gratitude,” Tempo, Oct. 24-29). He was a remarkable savior during the Holocaust who had the resourcefulness and the courage to confront evil. As a long-standing member of the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation, I congratulate the Czech children for their blessed initiative, and I fully endorse it. The foundation is an international non-profit group with offices in New York, Buenos Aires, Jerusalem and Berlin, devoted to preserving and divulging the legacies of Raoul Wallenberg, the Swedish diplomat who saved 100,000 lives during World War II.We believe Sir Nicholas Winton merits the Nobel Peace Prize, not only on his behalf, but in the name of all the saviors of the Holocaust. Most of them are no longer with us.These brave women and men not only had saved innocent lives, but first and foremost, they had saved human dignity.Dr. Natalio WengrowerThe International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation, Buenos Aires, ArgentinaImage-consciousThe Czech Republic reported more rapes last year, even when there is so much legal prostitution? (“Report on crime counters trends,” News, Feb. 6-12). That’s very interesting. Maybe people think that rape is not so bad when you can buy sex anyway and women are just objects in Czech Republic. I know, it sounds offensive, but don’t you think this is the image of the country? Does no one ever think about this image? The Czech Republic is famous for its brothels and prostitutes. I do not want to insult anybody, but I hope people will take a bit more responsibility for this issue in the future. Jan EnestamHelsinki Reader reviewsOf all the times I have been to Gate restaurant, I have never once had bad service (“Down on the corner,” Night & Day, Feb. 6-12). There are no angry waitresses, no 10-minute waits for menus, and actual hostesses will get your name when you come in to find the next available table for you if none are available at the moment. It’s obvious the staff has been trained, and there’s a manager on duty. These touches are so simple, yet so rare in this city’s restaurants. And for that, I’d pay to eat a lot worse than what Gate offers. (However, I think the food is just fine.)Ryan VigueriePragueI was incredibly impressed with your review of the movie “Atonement”. Well done! Now that I have discovered them, I look forward to reading the rest of your reviews (including the archived ones).Steve HornerPrague
