Lloyd in as Mmd director

The multinational public relations firm Mmd has named Edward Lloyd as the new general manager of its Prague office. He replaces former GM Jan Šimůnek, who is now leading Mmd’s Romanian operations. Lloyd comes to the role with more than 15 years of PR experience in Europe, Asia and the Americas, working for clients such as Alcatel, BT, Philips, Scientific Atlanta and Nintendo. Mmd has many prominent Czech and international clients, including Visa, Google, IBM, Panasonic, KPMG, GE and Gripen International.

The development firm Quinlan Private Golub has announced two appointments to its Prague headquarters.Vince Harney has been named a group project controller for Central and Eastern Europe. Before joining Quinlan, Harney, 44, was a finance director at UK development companies like Rowland Homes and Bovis Homes. Among his responsibilities were accounting, taxes, financing capital requirements and reviews of land and project appraisals.

Prior to that, Harney worked for AMEC Investment and Chadwick & Co. He is a graduate of the University of Liverpool, where he studied history and archaeology. Jiří Beránek will join Quinlan as a business executive. Prior to joining Quinlan, Beránek, 37, worked as a project developer for Global, where he was responsible for engineering, real estate acquisitions, project calculations and property development. He has also worked in acquisitions for Lloyds Pharmacy and Kaufland Czech Republic. Beránek studied at the University of Massachusetts in Boston, where he received a B.A. in political science. The bank Poštovní spořitelna has named Jan Bureš its primary economist. Bureš comes to Poštovní from ČSOB, where he was an analyst specializing in Central and East European markets.

Bureš is an expert on Czech and European financial markets and euro adoption. His studies will focus mainly on issues related to the development of the crown and euro, Czech and foreign markets and the economy of the Czech Republic. Bureš is a graduate of the University of Economics in Prague, where much of his research focused on the integration of the Czech financial market into the European financial system. Vlastimil Chaloupka has been named sales and marketing manager for Andel’s Hotel Prague and Angelo Hotel Prague, both owned by Vienna International Hotels & Resorts.
Chaloupka, 28, joined the sales department at Andel in 2004. He is a graduate of the University of Economics in Prague, where he specialized in international trade and communication.
