January 9th, 2008 issue

The Swedish car company Scania has appointed Petr Novotný as its financial director, overseeing the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. Novotný replaces Martijn van Keulen, who worked as financial director for the past three years and now serves as financial director of Scania Korea.
Novotný has worked as an auditor for Deloitte and as a financial controller for Coca-Cola in Ireland. He spent the past two years at Philip Morris as a financial director for Slovakia and led the company’s strategic planning for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The beer giants SABMiller and InBev, which control the Plzeňský Prazdroj and Staropramen breweries, respectively, have named new brewmasters at two of their subsidiaries.
Jozef Špirko, 46, the production manager of the Prazdroj-owned Velké Popovice brewery, has been named the brewery manager of Pivovary Topvar in Slovakia. Špirko is a native of Slovakia and a graduate of the Institute of Chemical Technology.
InBev’s Ostravar brewery, in Moravia, has hired Hans-Arnd Dahnken of Germany to serve as its chief brewer. Dahnken, 40, succeeds Robert Kužela, who is now in charge of logistics at Staropramen. Dahnken was trained at Becks brewery and is a graduate of the Univerity of Applied Sciences in Weihenstephan.
