December 5th, 2007 issue

(Updated Dec. 10, 2007) NASA's online magazine Nanotech Briefs gave Liberec nanotech company Elmarco the prestigious international Nano 50 Award, Svět Hospodářství reported on Monday.

For the Czech manufacturer of the Nanospider, a revolutionary technology utilizing a new method of making non-woven nanotech textiles, the award is an invitation to the big leagues of global innovation.

"The award is a significant reference for the American market and has opened up many new commercial opportunities for us," Elmarco co-owner Ladislav Mareš told Svět Hospodářství.

Elmarco was also asked to join MemFAST (Membrane & Filtration Applied Science and Technology Center) a new association of manufacturers of filtration materials and non-woven textiles. Founding members are North Carolina State University, The University of Akron (Ohio) and Colorado State University.

Other members are Fiberweb, Kimberly Clark, Donaldson, 3M, and Pall.
