He replaces Jiří Kudrnáč, who will become ČEZ’s director overseeing distribution. ČEZ Distribution operates as an electricity distributor in nine regions throughout the country.
Holub, 56, holds a degree from the Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT). He joined the ČEZ Group in 2003, serving as CEO of Severočeská energetika until October of this year. Prior to ČEZ, Holub was the strategy and marketing director of Čechofract from 1999 to 2002. He also spent six years, from 1992 to 1998, as a member of the Czech Republic’s Chamber of Deputies, where he at one time led the chamber’s energy and economics commissions. He holds six patents and is married with two daughters.
Kudrnáč, 42, is also a ČVUT graduate. He has worked at Severočeská energetika since 1990, including as head of the strategy section and head of the department of the general manager. In April 2005, he was appointed the company’s general manager. Much of Severočeská energetika’s operations have now been folded into ČEZ Distribution under ČEZ’s restructuring plan.
RWE Transgas, the country’s largest distributor of natural gas, has filled two vacancies on its board of directors, adding Tomáš Varcop and Dirk Simons to the board as of Jan. 1, 2008.

Varcop previously held the position of executive director and board member at ZSE Energia, a subsidiary of Západoslovenská energetika, Slovakia’s leading energy utility. Varcop has also served as Západoslovenská energetika’s sales and commercial director.
