EISP England’s Princess Anne was on hand last month to help the English International School, Prague (EISP) celebrate the official grand opening of its new 6,782-square-meter (73,000-square-foot) campus in Prague 4. The princess witnessed the unveiling of a commemorative plaque near the campus’ entrance. On the same day, the school hosted two separate mini cricket tournaments for the seniors and juniors. Students competed for the Princess Anne Cup and Junior Silver Plate. All international schools in Prague were invited to participate. The winners received their trophies from the princess herself.

SCHOLARSHIP Aimee Johnson, a student at the Christian International School of Prague, has been named a Commended Student in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) will be presented by the principal to Aimee, who is a senior this year. Commended Students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.4 million students who entered the 2008 competition by taking the 2006 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

THEATER Do you have a passion for acting, singing or dancing? Are you aged between 13 and 18? Does the thought of devising, scripting and performing a unique piece of theater inspire you? If so, why not come down to the Prague Youth Theatre audition workshop being held at the English International School, Prague (Brunelova 12, Prague 4) Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those who make the cut will be required to attend drama sessions Saturday mornings.
