Workers at the rubber company Sartomer Czech s.r.o. are investigating causes of a fire that broke out at the factory of its Czech partner Kaucuk, according to a Sartomer spokesman. Sartomer Czech plans to announce results of the fire investigation on Wednesday, said Vojen Ocenasek, a Sartomer spokesman based in Kralupy nad Vltavou at the factory. Sartomer has had an operating agreement with Kaucuk, a synthetic rubber and polystyrene plastic company in the Czech Republic, since 2002. Kaucuk is owned by Polish-based Dwory after a contentious sale by Czech-based Unipetrol that was completed in July.
Saturday's fire caused about $500,000 (10 million Czech koruna, or Kc) in damage at the Kaucuk factory, according to Pravo newspaper. Ocenasek declined to discuss any details of the fire.
