ČP adds finance director

The insurance company Česká pojišťovna (ČP) has a new chief financial officer. Ivan Vodička, ČP’s new man, replaces Lubomír Bušek, who will now focus on establishing the company’s new joint venture, Generali PPF Holding. After approval comes from the Czech National Bank, Vodička will also be appointed to the ČP board. Vodička, 43, comes to ČP after 10 years spent leading Royal Numico, an international food company. He was in charge of the company’s activities in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.Vodička graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague and subsequently earned degrees from the ENPC School of International Management in Paris and the University of California at Berkeley. He is married and has two children.Alexej Bechtin has been appointed the new spokesman of the financial group PPF. Prior to this position, he was the spokesman and external communication manager at Plzeňský Prazdroj, the country’s largest brewer.

Bechtin

Bechtin, 46, is a graduate of the Faculty of Journalism at Charles University and the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University. Since the mid-1990s, Bechtin has worked in public relations, first with the Czech-Belgian PR agency Interel and then in local subsidiaries of leading multinationals. In 2000–01 he worked for Philips Morris ČR, moving to Plzeňský Prazdroj in 2002. For the past two years, he was seconded to Slovakia, working as the corporate communication manager at Plzeňský Prazdroj’s sister brewing company, Pivovary Topvar.Bechtin is married and has one daughter. He speaks Czech, Slovak, Russian, English and Spanish.Also adding to their communication and marketing department is the local branch of Cushman & Wakefield (C&W), the world’s largest privately held real estate consultancy.

Pavel Šafránek joins the company as marketing manager, taking over from Jitka Kvartková, who will now focus on the company’s external and internal communications and media relations.

Šafránek, 33, joins C&W after spending the past two years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the same capacity. Between 2000 and 2005, he worked as a consultant at the B.I.G. agency. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Science at the University of Ostrava with a degree in social geography and regional development. He speaks fluent English, Russian, Polish and Slovak. Kvartková joined C&W as marketing manager in 2004, also arriving from B.I.G., where she specialized in PR. She has been responsible for all the marketing activities and communications in the Prague office so far.Kvartková graduated from the Faculty of International Relations at the University of Economics in Prague.
