Pipers played a simple tune that wafted over Old Town Square, causing a group of women in kerchief hats to pick up their feet and dance.
Other musicians blew on their bagpipes for the Prague Folklore Days festival held July 26–29. In a parade, some carried oxen yokes hung with traditionally embroidered textiles to herald the event, which brought musicians and dancers from more than a dozen countries to show off their customs. Hundreds of people turned out for the noncompetitive gathering organized by Millennium Travel.
Music and dance were represented from countries including Latvia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy and Spain.
