O2 sees a CEO shuffle

The country’s leading telecommunication company, Telefónica O2, has changed the helm of its Czech branch. Jaime Smith, who worked as Telefónica O2’s general director here, has moved to O2 Germany to hold the same post. He is replaced by Salvador Anglada, who has worked in Prague as Telefónica O2’s vice president for residential customers.

Anglada studied industrial engineering in Madrid and received an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa. Before joining Telefónica de Espana in 2002 as director of sales and marketing for corporate customers, Anglada worked for Dell Computer and Dow Jones. Since June 2005, he has worked as general director of Eurotel, the mobile arm of the former telecom giant Český Telecom, which was bought by Telefónica O2 through privatization.
Apple IMC Czech Republic has announced the appointment of Christophe Chastan as new regional general manager, responsible for the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Romania. In this position, Chastan will be responsible for leading each country’s Apple teams.

Chastan has more than 15 years of sales experience in Europe, Latin America and Asia. He is moving from Moscow, where he served as general manager of the Russian branch for Dell. Under his leadership, Dell’s Russian operations grew tenfold in two years.
SkyEurope founder Christian Mandl has stepped down as general manager of the Bratislava-based budget airline, taking the position of chairman and general director of SkyEurope’s parent, Vienna-based SkyEurope Holding. Everyday management of the airline has been transferred to Jason Bitter, who until recently worked as deputy general manager. Mandl will focus on strategic projects, such as entering the Russian market. Bitter and Mandl will both sit on the board of SkyEurope, joined by the company’s financial director, Nick Manoudakis.
Michal Knor has joined Prague’s St. James Education Center as its general manager. Among his principal tasks will be strengthening the position of the center’s language and soft-skills courses. Knor previously worked in the telecommunication and Internet industries.
Martin Hermann, chairman of RWE Transgas, has been appointed vice president of the Czech Gas Union. Hermann has worked at RWE Transgas since 2002. Previously, he worked in the banking sector. Hermann studied economics at the Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universität in Münster, Germany, and was appointed to the helm of RWE Transgas in April.
Škoda

Telecom provider Volný recently hired Tomáš Škoda as a senior marketing communication manager. Škoda previously worked as a senior account manager at the communications agency Corpus. Škoda is about to graduate from the marketing and social communication department at Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín, east Moravia. He has worked in the advertising industry for almost 10 years.
