Ernst & Young partner Magdalena Souček has been re-elected president of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic for 2007–08. The other chamber board members for the next two years will be Val Papirnik (Squire, Sanders & Dempsey), Martin Ilner (Oracle), Sanjiv Suri (Zátiší catering), Jiří Pavlíček (Johnson & Johnson), Aleš Bartůněk (IBM), Erik Best (Fleet Sheet), Jaroslav Doležal (Honeywell), Philip Staehlin (AT Kearney), Jan Brázda (Hays), František Dostálek (KPMG), Margareta Křížová (CEAG), Roland Mahler (T-Mobile), Willi Ribbe (Marriott and Renaissance Hotels), Jan Spurný (ABN AMRO) and Pieter Van Groos (GE Money Bank).
At Ernst & Young, Souček heads the risk management department for Central Europe. She holds degrees in economics and management from the University of Massachusetts and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Czech Accountants’ Bar.The Prague Hilton Hotel has introduced new sales managers to its staff: Verena Stützle and Gladymar Medina.Stützle, a German national, has been in the hotel industry since 1999, most recently serving as assistant guest relations manager at the Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel Munich. Previously, she worked in the reservations and sales departments at the Cavalieri Hilton in Rome. She speaks fluent German, English and Italian and has a good command of French.
The Venezuelan-born Spaniard Medina graduated from the Tourism & Hotelier Business Technician University Institute and the University of the Andes, both in Merida, Venezuela. Her background in the tourism industry includes work as a sales and marketing assistant at the Cavalieri Hilton and as sales and marketing executive at the Grand Hotel Bahia del Duque in Tenerife, Spain. She speaks fluent Spanish, English, Italian and French.The English International School, Prague (EISP), a private international school for children from 18 months to 18 years — part of the major British education company Nord Anglia Education — has appointed Paul Brewster as its new headmaster, effective September. In this role, Brewster will be responsible for leading the school and its staff at its new campus in Prague 4, which will open in time for the 2007-08 academic year.Brewster has 26 years of teaching experience in several schools all over the United Kingdom, where he focused mainly on teaching mathematics and computing. He has also run athletics programs, coached hockey and rugby teams and was involved with chess, skiing, computing and running clubs.
