The Czech industry’s flagship company, car maker Škoda Auto, will soon see a changing of the guard in its top management. According to the German newspaper Bild, Škoda Auto’s chairman of the board, Detlef Wittig, will retire in June and will be replaced by Reinhardt Jung. Jung currently works as the director of production and sales at Škoda Auto’s parent company, Volkswagen. In the past, Jung worked as Volkswagen’s country manager in Mexico.Prague Ruzyně Airport has announced that Miroslav Dvořák will replace the outgoing Hana Černochová as the airport’s general director. Dvořák will take over the management of the airport June 1, and his priority will be completing the airport’s transformation from a state-held company to a joint-stock company — a move that will enable the airport’s privatization in the future. Until recently, Dvořák worked as the head of private banking at ČSOB.

Computer Associates named Karel Schmidtmayer country manager for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He was promoted from sales account manager, a position he held for three years. Previously, he worked as IBM’s field sales representative.Alex Cook, lawyer at the Prague office of Clifford Chance, was promoted to corporate partner. Cook is an English corporate lawyer who qualified to practice in 1996 after finishing his studies at Oxford University and then the College of Law.

Cook is experienced in the field of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and equity capital markets. He joined Clifford Chance Prague in January 2005.Consumer loan provider Home Credit has introduced three new executives to its management. Luboš Berkovec was appointed finance and risk manager. Berkovec has been a guru in the financial sector. Over the past two years, he worked as GE Money Bank’s country manager in Slovakia.Luděk Jírů will head the key accounts department, and David Bystrzycki will be responsible for customer-related management.Marek Lošan joined the law firm Havel & Holásek as a partner. He is responsible, among other things, for providing legal services to German-speaking clients. He graduated from Charles University’s Law Factory in 1997. Prior to joining Havel & Holásek, he worked for the past 10 years at international advisory and law firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Beiten Burkhardt Mittl & Wegener and White & Case.
