Mühlfeit
Jan Mühlfeit has become the highest-ranked Czech international business executive, after being appointed European chairman for the software giant Microsoft. In his new position, Mühlfeit will deal on Microsoft’s behalf with European governments, European Union institutions and essential corporate clients.
Mühlfeit is an IT guru with almost 20 years of experience in the technology sector. Over the past 14 years, he has worked in various managerial positions within Microsoft, and since 2000 he has been a member of Microsoft’s top management. Most recently, Mühlfeit worked as vice president for strategy in the region of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Grund
In other recent Microsoft personnel news, the company’s Czech branch has seen some new appointments. Jiří Grund, who worked over the past four years as the branch’s spokesman, was promoted to the position of marketing manager.
At the same time, Markéta Kuklová was named the company’s new spokeswoman.
Pešek
Industry and Trade Minister Martin Říman’s decision in late March to dismiss Tomáš Hruda, general director of the inbound investment agency CzechInvest, and replace him with Roman Čermák has triggered a wave of departures at the agency. Among the executives who left in April were Jakub Mikulášek, executive director; Luboš Lukasík, business development manager; René Samek, director of the investment and applied research support division; Tomáš Mráz, director of the regional cooperation department; and Tereza Matějková, director of human resources. CzechInvest spokeswoman Alžběta Honsová has also joined the departing group of executives.
The Hotel President in Prague has appointed a new chef, Milan Pešek. A specialist in French cuisine, Pešek is a familiar name in the world of fine dining. He earned his excellent reputation in many restaurants and hotels in both the Czech Republic and France, including the Restaurant Sarah Bernhardt at the Hotel Paříž in Prague, the Hotel de Crillon in Paris, the Hotel du Palais in Biarritz and the Brasserie La Lavande in Prague, among others.
Pešek has worked at the Hotel President since January 2006, when he was appointed executive chef of the Vltava Restaurant.
Prague-based law firm Braun Haškovcová has expanded its team with two new members.
Luděk Hrubý has joined the law firm as a tax adviser. Hrubý has been a member of the Czech Tax Advisers’ Bar since 2002.
Meanwhile, Lucie Tománková was hired to work as communications and event manager. During her studies at Charles University’s Social Sciences Faculty, Tománková contributed articles to various media, including the daily Hospodářské noviny, news site Aktualne.cz and the Czech News Agency.
