ČSA shuffles board

Czech Airlines has seen a changing of the guard on its supervisory board. Chairman Miroslav Ševčík and three other board members have stepped down and been replaced by new executives. Ivan Kočárník, who was the Czech Republic’s finance minister from 1992 to 1997, was named the new board chairman. After ending his political career, Kočárník worked as chairman of the board at the Česká pojišťovna insurance company, and most recently served as vice chairman at the petrochemical giant Unipetrol.

Peter Skelhorn has joined the tax and legal department of PricewaterhouseCoopers Czech Republic as a partner. He will be responsible for leading the company’s growing value-added tax (VAT) and customs practice in the country.
One of his main aims is to help customers minimize their VAT and customs-compliance costs.
Prior to joining PwC, Skelhorn worked for the UK tax authority. He has extensive experience in areas such as VAT planning, compliance and risk management for both the private and public sectors.
Another consultancy corporation from within the Big Four, Ernst & Young, has introduced a new head of its forensic audit team for information systems, Ivo Bretfeld. He will be responsible for his team’s activities in the Czech Republic and also in the rest of Central Europe. Before joining Ernst & Young, Bretfeld was an independent consultant focusing on data mining.
Robert Fridrich was appointed general manager for F24 Czech Republic, a newly opened Prague-based subsidiary of the F24 company, Europe’s leading emergency notification and conferencing company. Fridrich, 39, has worked for more than 15 years in the telecommunications and IT sector. Before joining F24, Fridrich was the product and marketing director for the telecommunications provider Czech On Line (Volný). He has also held positions as a country manager at Iridium Communications and marketing director at T-Mobile Czech Republic.
From the beginning of April, two leading European airlines, Air France and KLM, merged their management teams for the region encompassing the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Romania.
František Šiling was appointed country manager for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Šiling is a graduate of the Czech Technical University. He has worked in a number of international companies, including Matsushita Electronics and CPC Foods, where he worked in marketing and sales. In 1997, he joined KLM Royal Dutch Airlines as a business representative and in 2000 he was appointed the KLM country manager for the Czech Republic.
Ludovic Froidure, former Air France country manager for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, has been promoted. He will now serve as Air France and KLM’s commercial manager for Central Africa in Libreville, Gabon.
