GE appoints PR guru

Public relations guru Roman Frkous was appointed GE Money Bank’s director of communications for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.Over the past six years, Frkous has worked as PR manager for telecommunications company Vodafone (previously known as Oskar), where, among other activities, he assisted in developing guerilla-marketing campaigns.

Frkous has also collaborated with communications agency AMI Communications, and he co-founded the Czech Information Agency wire news service.Frkous, a proud father of two daughters, says he still has challenges before him. One is to become a bell ringer at St. Vitus Cathedral for at least a single day.

Prague-based law firm Glatzová & Co. has expanded and recently introduced some new faces to its team.Jiří Sixta, an expert on corporate law and mergers and acquisitions, in addition to pharmaceutical law, has boosted the mergers and acquisitions team. Sixta has worked with renowned legal firms in the Czech Republic and abroad including Zaid Ibrahim & Co. in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.Among other new faces in Glatzová & Co. are Iva Hromková, Martin Varga and Zuzana Vagnerová.Glatzová & Co. has expanded to Slovakia through cooperation with Slovak firm Malata, Pružinský, Hegedüš and partners, or M.P.H.Paul Griffin, a fan of British soccer powerhouse Manchester United, has joined Czech IT firm Servodat as the director of international operations responsible for the company’s foreign expansion. Griffin previously worked in various managerial positions in major IT companies including IBM, Asbis Enterprises and Seagate Technology.Zdeněk Macháček has become development manager at IT company Logos. Until recently, he worked as head of the department focusing on the development of Java and Oracle technologies. Macháček studied information technology and technical cybernetics at the Czech Technical University in Prague. Before Logos, he worked as an analyst for BBM.Ian McKenzie was named general director of the biggest Czech alternative telecommunications operator, Radiokomunikace, after the company separated the positions of general director and chairman of the board in late February, both of which were held by Miroslav Čuřín.McKenzie, a British national, has spent over 38 years in telecommunications and broadcast in international markets. He worked for British Telecom as chief operating officer in the Asia-Pacific area. He then joined Kingston Communications as chief operating officer. He took executive board roles with several other businesses, including chairman of Karneval Media, executive chairman of Invitel in Hungary, nonexecutive chairman of Multicom Security AB in Sweden and Daisy Communications in the United Kingdom.Čuřín remains at Radiokomunikace as board chairman.
