The University of Pittsburgh's office in Prague announced the appointment of Hana Barnetová as its new program manager. Barnetová is a graduate of the Faculty of Education at the University of Hradec Králové. During her studies, she worked as an English teacher at the First Language Grammar School in Hradec Králové. She then held a management coordinator role for DHL Information Services Europe, acting as an account executive communicating with main suppliers and overseeing the recruitment process for management staff. Most recently, Barnetová worked as an interpreter for the Maxx and JIP companies in Hradec Králové. In the University of Pittsburgh's Prague office, she will be responsible for dealing with all communication among students and third parties, event planning and office management. Guests of the Essensia restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel will soon be able to enjoy an expanded selection of genuine Asian meals, thanks to the appointment of Gerardus Ari Munandar as the restaurant's deputy chef.
At the same time, Martin Hamáček was named chief bartender at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel's Barego bar. Hamáček, who has participated in various bartending courses abroad, has worked as a bartender in the Czech Republic, Ireland and Germany. He was previously bar manager at Andel's Hotel. In another personnel change in the hospitality sector, Swiss executive Peter John was appointed general manager of Hotel Leonardo in Prague 1. John is a familiar face in the local hotel industry. He first arrived in Prague in 1998, when he was appointed general manager of the Corinthia Panorama Hotel. He was responsible for its complete re-branding following the hotel's acquisition by the Corinthia Group. He left the Corinthia Panorama in June 2000 to become the director of sales and marketing for the soon-to-open Four Seasons Hotel. After leaving the Four Seasons Hotel, and a stint running the Legner Hotel and Resort Chain that operates throughout the Czech Republic, John left for Italy, becoming general manager of luxury resort hotels owned by the German/Spanish IFA Hotel group.
John is fluent in German, French, Italian, Portugese, English, Spanish and Czech. He holds various hospitality degrees, including the Diplome d'Études Techniques Superieures en Hotellerie et Restauration from Lausanne, Switzerland, and an F&B Certification from Cornell University.
