It is with a great deal of amazement that I write you this letter. Amazement, first, that 15 years can really go by that fast. Your support and loyalty, along with that of our advertisers, has made the impossible possible. I sincerely thank you for it.

Amazement also that you as a group have changed so much. Our expat readers are older, and more of you are married with children. And more of our readers are Czech.

Perhaps the biggest change is that many of you now read The Prague Post in electronic form, via the Internet. In numbers, your group greatly exceeds those who read the newspaper in print. You might be interested to know that approximately 80 percent of our readers on the Internet live outside the Czech Republic, in fact, all around the world. In contrast, approximately 80 percent of our readers of the print version live in the Czech Republic.

As you have changed, we have also changed in order to cover your expanding interests and needs. Your interests in schools, home ownership, improved health care, quality products and upscale dining, travel and entertainment have resulted in regular special sections such as real estate, education and health care, along with our Fastlane magazine and Dining Guide. In addition, we have redesigned and im-proved the software on our Web site to make it faster and more user-friendly for those of you in this rapidly growing group of readers. When Lisa Frankenberg, Kent Hawryluk and my wife Kay and I founded The Prague Post 15 years ago, there was no Internet.

Looking back, any painful memories from the multitude of operational challenges we encountered in establishing the newspaper fade as I focus on the array of talented people who at various points over the past 15 years joined in the effort to bring you, the reader, a quality newspaper each week. They poured their talent, energy, enthusiasm and time into that mission, and, no matter where they find themselves today, will always be a part of The Prague Post family. It is upon their shoulders that we now stand, and to each of them I will always be grateful.

Looking forward, our mission continues to be one of providing you, the reader, with a high-quality news product that you can trust and one that covers your expanding interests. The Prague Post is blessed with a talented and professional team. We have strong and dedicated leadership. I have great confidence that they will successfully accomplish this mission.

The past 15 years in the Czech Republic were packed with the events and challenges of a country moving out of 45 years of communism and into NATO and the global economy. Together, we now all head into what looks to be another very eventful 15 years for the Czech Republic and the world. The Prague Post will be there to report it for you.

Again, thank you for your trust and support. We are honored to serve you.

Monroe Luther,

Publisher
