Hotel vet returns to PragueMovers & Shakers | Search restaurants | Archives By František Bouc Staff Writer, The Prague Post October 25th, 2006 issue Irishman Robert Patrick Herr has taken over for Australian Leon Larkin as general manager of the InterContinental Praha hotel. He moved to Prague from Hamburg's InterContinental, where he also worked as the general manager. Herr has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 13 years, in hotels in Hamburg, Leipzig, Vienna, Paris and New York City. He is making a return to Prague after having worked in the past as InterContinental's resident manager here. The newly opened four-star Angelo Hotel Prague is also making changes to its management. Markéta Janatová was appointed director of sales and marketing. Janatová also will continue working in the same position for Anděl's Hotel & Suites Prague. Janatová came to work at Anděl's Hotel Prague during its construction in 2001 as its first employee. In 2003, she was appointed director of sales and marketing. She graduated from the Prague University of Economics with a specialization in tourism and company management. Dörte Klein was named country manager for German airline Lufthansa in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Klein started as a flight attendant. Before moving to Prague, she worked five years in Lufthansa's sales and marketing department at its Frankfurt headquarters. Former Czech Airlines (ČSA) Communications Director Dana Dvořáková became corporate communications manager at petrochemical holding Unipetrol. Dvořáková started her career as a business reporter at Hospodářské noviny and Mladá fronta Dnes, but developed into a corporate communications guru. Apart from ČSA, she also worked as a communications manager at VÚB bank in Slovakia and also at telecommunications giant Český Telecom (now Telefónica O2). Ostrava-based steelworks Mittal Steel Ostrava recently appointed Tomáš Telúch as a new addition to its seven-member top management group. He will be responsible for managing the company's investment projects. Telúch has worked in Ostrava steelworks for most of his career, since 1989. Johan Boeijenga was named general director of Dutch company Ahold Central Europe, which operates worldwide supermarket and hypermarket chains. He has worked in the Dutch headquarters and as Ahold's general director in Indonesia. Ahold runs 244 Albert supermarkets and 53 Hypernova hypermarkets here. Scania Finance CER, a daughter company of Swedish truck maker Scania, hired Tomáš Burdych to direct its information technology department. He began as a programmer at Grall. Before joining Scania, he was a financial analyst at telecommunications companies Vodafone and Eurotel (now Telefónica O2).
