Movers and ShakersKubečka named directorMovers & Shakers | Search restaurants | Archives By František Bouc Staff Writer, The Prague Post November 16th, 2005 issue Čestmír Kubečka has been named general director of the country's leading freight forwarder, Čechofracht. He joined the company as director for logistics in July and was appointed chairman of the board a month later. His past successes include guiding the recovery of a chemical production unit at Spolchemie following a major fire in 2002. Kubečka has a master's degree in chemistry and practices karate in his free time. Despite plans to leave the Czech market, French retail chain Carrefour recently introduced a new marketing and communications manager, Jan Čejka. After graduating from the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE), Čejka began his career as a junior brand manager at household cleaning products distributor Benckiser Czech Republic. He joined Carrefour in 1999 as a market and internal processes analyst before being promoted to management. The planned expansion of IT services provider Logos has led to the hiring of recruitment specialist Hana Hujberová. Hujberová studied marketing and management at the Mining University in Ostrava. She has experience working in the HR departments of many companies, including postal services provider Česká pošta, electronics retailer Electrocity and GE Capital Bank. In another personnel change at Logos, Karel Němec was appointed head of development in the Microsoft department. Němec previously worked at IT firm Xaricom Software, where he was responsible for the development of information systems running on the Microsoft platform. Němec, who studied IT systems at VŠE, became one of the first Czech experts to receive official certification for developing systems on the Microsoft platform. Němec began his career as an independent programmer before being hired by IT firms iXOS Software and later Xaricom Software. Mark Cichon is the new manager of international communications agency DDB's office in Prague. Cichon previously held the position of director of strategic planning at DDB. He has replaced Andrew Brookie, now chief financial officer at DDB Asia in Hong Kong. Other recently appointed managers at DDB Prague are held by Jiří Votruba (client service director), Ruth Arban (account director) and Jan Hendrych (financial director). Tomáš Jelínek, economic adviser to former President Václav Havel, was recently hired as a senior public affairs consultant by Donath-Burson-Marsteller, a public relations firm. He will be responsible for mediating communication between firms involved in international investment projects. Jelínek worked in Havel's office from 1996 to 2001. His responsibilities included issuing compensation to victims of the Nazi regime, which occupied Czechoslovakia from 1939 to 1945.
