Pilsner promotes Berka

Václav Berka
Pilsner Urquell brewery has named Václav Berka a senior business brewer. In the newly established position, Berka will oversee the technology of brewing the distinctive Pilsner beer and will develop cooperation with the brewery's business partners. Berka has worked at Pilsner Urquell for more than 25 years. Most recently, he worked as the brewery's operational manager.

Former Prague Post business reporter Petra Pasternak has joined online marketing agency Advertures as the firm's first external communications director. She will be responsible for media relations and brand management. Prior to joining Advertures, Pasternak worked as a staff writer for the Czech Business Weekly.

She has also reported for the San Francisco Business Times and UN Wire, an independent wire service in Washington, D.C.

The transformation of IT weekly Computerworld from a newspaper to a magazine has brought about personnel changes in publishing company IDG Czech, which also works as a publisher for Business World monthly. Martin Faťun has been appointed director of both publications.

Meanwhile, Jarmila Frejtichová was named editor-in-chief at Business World and Petr Mandík was named editor-in-chief at Computerworld.

Faťun, who studied cybernetics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague, has been working at IDG since 1995. Most recently, he acted as deputy executive editor at both Computerworld and Business World.

Frejtichová studied at Charles University's Philosophical faculty and later worked as a journalist and translator.

Mandík studied cybernetics at the Czech Technical University and recently worked as a deputy editor-in-chief at Computerworld.

Ilio Rodoni recently joined Hilton Prague as director of operations, replacing Philippe Mahuas, who moved to Hilton Brussels. Rodoni has worked for many hotels in various positions in the operations department, including Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, the London Hilton, Forte Grand Hotel in Dubai, Abu Dhabi Grand Hotel and most recently at Sheraton Abu Dhabi Resort & Towers as executive assistant manager in charge of food and beverages. Rodoni holds a Hotel Management Diploma from École Hoteliere in Lausanne, Switzerland. A native Italian, he is also fluent in English, French, Swedish and German.

Martin Sramko

IT firm Symbol Technologies, which focuses on enterprise mobility, has hired a new territory account manager, Marian Šramko. The graduate from the University of Economics in Prague is prepared to deal with corporate clients thanks to his previous experience as key account manager at Wincor Nixdorf.
