Komerční banka (KB) CEO and board chairman Alexis Juan will retire in October. Juan, 62, joined Société Générale in 1968 and has been at the head of the Czech Republic's third-largest bank since 2001, when France's Société Générale bought into KB.

Under Juan's command KB last year generated a net profit of 8.9 million Kč ($360,000) — the highest profit out of all commercial banks operating on the Czech market in 2004. Juan said his tenure in KB was the most demanding task in his professional career.

Satoshi Takae has been selected to replace Masatake Enomoto as the head of the newly opened TPCA (Toyota Peugeot, Citroen) plant in Kolín. Takae previously worked as the company's vice president for production. Takae joined Toyota in 1981 after completing his studies of nautical engineering. He has worked in Toyota subsidiaries in Japan and the United States.

Meanwhile, Enomoto is heading back to Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan. Enomoto will remain connected to the Czech site through his middle name Kolín, which he incorporated into his name so that "people elsewhere recognize that there is a Toyota plant in Kolín."

TPCA launched commercial production at the end of February. It had produced more than 11,000 cars by the end of May and looks to turn out over 100,400 cars this year. The cars manufactured in Kolín are Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1.

Czech Airports Authority (ČSL) director Martin Kačur was surprisingly stripped of his job June 21by Transportation Minister Milan Šimonovský. Šimonovský followed recommendations from ČSL's supervisory board that highlighted shortcomings in ČSL's accounts. ČSL had to file an additional tax report in the spring and is due to pay about 140 million Kč in additional taxes, a result of putting some investments into reserves in 2000–02.

Kačur, who had guided ČSL since mid 2002 and spearheaded Prague-Ruzyně Airport's expansion over the past couple of years, will be temporarily replaced by ČSL Financial Director Hana Černochová. Šimonovský said he would either confirm Černochová or someone else as ČSL head within one month.

Ivo Ščuka was recently appointed the regional manager at international car rental company Hertz Lease. Ščuka previously held management positions in several international companies. He comes to Hertz Lease from Business Lease, where he worked as commercial manager responsible for maintaining Business Lease's position as a key player on the car fleet operational leasing market.

At Hertz Lease, Ščuka will be responsible for market strategy, product development and implementation.

Prague-based technology firm Logos has promoted Marek Král to head of the team that puts together instruction manuals for software and other IT products. Král previously worked as Logos' key account manager.

Král studied authorship rights and pedagogy at the Theater Faculty of the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague. He started his career as a journalist with Czech Radio. Král quit journalism after one year and later worked as an independent media consultant. Before joining Logos, Král worked as a Web editor for IT firm Aldi.
